Paid College Credits

SECURE YOUR FUTURE WITH THE MOST POWERFUL "CORPORATION"
OF OUR TIME: THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

Do you have any higher learning or experience in your field of interest? One thing about the really good government positions is the focus on training. What you don't know the government is more than willing to teach you. What they like to know is that you have the ability to learn. This is where a training certificate, a two/four year degree, or experience in your field will pay off. I personally know individuals who have applied themselves at a community college and acquired an Associates Degree. They were hired into a government agency as a GS-9 and are currently *FG-12, (GS General Schedule has been renamed FG). A little effort on your part can take you a long way in a government agency.

Various agencies offer special programs that are geared toward developing college students into long term employees. When you contact an office ask them if they have any
college student programs available that would aid you in securing a position with them. Certain agencies offer tuition reimbursement for college courses that are related to your position within that department. There are interdepartmental engineering programs where Uncle Sam will anoint you with an engineering degree if you complete certain core courses. There are also accredited institutions that will allow you to transform several government training courses into college credits. I should know as I did it myself. My training received as a government employee was transcribed into sevety two college semester hours and it only cost me $35 for the entire process! So not only did I get paid a full salary to learn, I also saved tens of thousands of dollars in college tuition, books, and fees. So can you!!! The US Government offers great management opportunities as well. The Upward Mobility Program literally pays administrative personnel to go through an in depth, electronics curriculum which virtually doubles their FG (federal pay grade) rating. Many of these individuals are now managing key facilities throughout the nation.

Although I personally do not hold a degree thus far, let me assure you that a two or four year degree will make you more competitive for various managerial positions; (typically
FG-14 and above). This equates to six figures a year in many areas.

What is your area of expertise? What do you want to do with your life? In the U.S. Government, almost any career can be your oyster. There are more government positions than you could even begin to count. Accounting, administration, electronics, public relations, architecture, computer repair, computer programming, training coordinator, instructor, and RN,are but a few of the thousands of available opportunities within the various, governmental departments. Regardless of what you currently do for a living, once you get your foot in this door, you can branch off into virtually any career that you've always dreamed of. One insider secret is the IDP, (Individual Development Plan). The IDP is basically a signed agreement between yourself and your supervisor that states that in an allotted amount of time, you will be groomed for a particular position within your agency. If you are a self motivated go getter, this plan will put you on a direct path to a great future. This plan will allow you to receive government, correspondence courses. It will also open the door for you for detailed (temporary opening not to exceed 120 days.) positions. This plan also puts you high on the charts for training courses. Which, if the course is out of state, you will be paid your regular salary plus the ever so desirable, per diem. Per diem basically is a set, spending allowance used to pay your travel, lodging, and eating expenses. Per diem rates vary with the cost of living of an area.
